My name is Celina Khorma. I am a freelance journalist based in New York City, covering culture, global human rights and women's issues. In addition to running my own column in CIIN, the first online fashion magazine in my native Jordan, I also interned at Cosmopolitan and served as a staff writer at Washington Square News. I am a 2020 honors graduate of New York University, where I received a B.A. in Journalism and Social and Cultural Analysis, as well as a minor in Creative Writing.
A little bit about me to catch you up to speed:
-
I've had the Barefoot Contessa's pumpkin pie recipe memorized since I was 12.
-
My number one goal as a journalist is to devote dedicated coverage to voices that typically go unheard, specifically women and BIPOC.
-
I've spent a lot of time reporting on women in the Middle East, from those entangled in the refugee crisis to aspiring creatives of the region.
-
I used to write my own "books" in first grade, and read them to my class for fun.
-
I'm not super into astrology, but I am very much a Libra.
-
I'm an anti-social extrovert. Don't get it? Honestly, me either.
-
I watched all of Fleabag in one single day.
-
I had Shakespeare's 18th sonnet memorized in the fourth grade...I don't anymore.
Enjoy my writing, and I hope to see you again soon!
